Techniques such as underglaze blue-and-white (*sometsuke*) and overglaze enameling (*uwa-etsuke*) have long been used to decorate Japanese ceramics. These patterns are so deeply ingrained in the Japanese consciousness that they often go unnoticed, simply because they are so familiar. By leveraging the expertise in mold-making we have cultivated over many years, we have created a new form of expression by carving these patterns directly into the master molds.
